Working at Briteback

Personal development guaranteed

At Briteback we are very proud of what we do, and always go the extra mile to ensure quality. When problem-solving, we do not look for quick solutions, we look for great solutions. From this comes a sense of satisfaction and dedication which makes it fun to work.

We value openness in everything we do and make sure that everyone knows where we are heading, both short-term and long-term. Knowing why we do what we do allows us to take own initiatives and assume responsibility. And this is the key to learning and personal development.

Our Norrköping Office

We are located in a bright and spatious office in an exclusive part of central Norrköping, only 5 minutes walking distance from the central station. Some of us commute from the twin city of Linköping, while others are local residents.

Our origin as a spin-off company from Linköping University means that we have good relations with academia. We often offer thesis project opportunities for students, and also participate in research projects.

Available positions

Developer: Full stack

We are looking for a developer to join us at our Norrköping office. We have a world-class development team with and a full-stack policy. Everyone cannot be full-stack developers from the start, but will get there soon enough. We believe strongly in collective code ownership. We employ Kanban, code reviews, and daily stand-ups.

All our products and solutions are built on our very own state-of-the-art cloud-based platform. Our policy of finding great solutions to problems means that we often are early adopters of new technology and frameworks. As an example, we were the first company to employ the (now) successful Deepstream framework.

If this sounds like fun, don't hesitate to contact us.

Thesis project: Visualizing files in messaging

Thesis topic

Messaging is about to replace email for internal communication within enterprises. When communication takes place in public/private messaging channels, communication gets more efficient. With possibilities for uploading files to messaging channels, messaging solutions can potentially replace company intranets as well.

However, current file management solutions for messaging are very simplistic. Basically, files are uploaded to messaging channels as regular messages and can quickly “drown” as new messages are posted. Another problem is that it is hard to keep track of the latest version of an uploaded file. There are also no ways of providing a tradition file structure with folders etc.

A better way of visualizing files is needed. This thesis project is about extending the Briteback messaging app with a better file management system:

- Design a better way to visualize files that can handle overviews of available files and folders with version management
- Implement the most promising solution on top of Briteback’s current file upload system
- Evaluate the user experience

This thesis project is suitable for 1-2 students. The successful candidate(s) will be working from the Briteback main office in central Norrköping.

Thesis project: Integrating Skype & telephony

Thesis topic

Briteback is developing the next generation corporate telephony solution in a partnership with telecom provider iCentrex. The new solution integrates mobile telephony with online calls, making it possible to seamlessly escalate a regular phone call to a multi-person video call with screen sharing (among other things).

We will also integrate other VoIP-solutions. The reason is that there is an ongoing trend shift in telephony where normal calls are gradually being moved to VoIP solutions (mainly in the consumer sector so far, but the trend is coming to the corporate sector s well).

This thesis project is about extending the Briteback telephony solution with a Skype integration:

- Answer incoming Skype calls (to connected Skype-accounts) in Briteback
- Call Skype-IDs from Briteback
- Mix Skype calls, online calls and regular calls in multi person calls

Note: The existing solution is already prepared for mixing VoIP and regular calls.

This thesis project is suitable for 1-2 students. The successful candidate(s) will be working from the Briteback main office in central Norrköping.

Thesis project: Flexible data visualization

Thesis topic

Briteback Explore is the next generation research app, built on the Briteback platform. Briteback Explore has an advanced survey tool for data collection, currently being used by many universities and other research organizations world-wide. We are especially well-positioned within the sports community with e.g. IAAF as a partner.

So far Briteback Explore has been focused on data collection, with a CSV-file export as the only solution for results presentation and analysis (e.g. through Excel or SPSS). However, some of our customers are looking for an integrated solution for visualizing results, to make the collected data more actionable. An interest challenge in this is how to deal with recurring surveys for longitudinal data collection, and how to visualize this data.

This thesis project is about extending Briteback Explore with a results presentation solution:

- Analyze and evaluate existing Javascript (& React) data visualization packages (e.g. D3)
- Implement the most promising visualization package as a presentation solution in Briteback Explore

This thesis project is suitable for 1-2 students. The successful candidate(s) will be working from the Briteback main office in central Norrköping.
